DAN Oxygen
First Aid Programs
The course
represents entry level training designed to educate the general
diving (and qualified non-diving) public in recognizing possible
dive related injuries; and providing emergency oxygen first aid
while activating the local emergency medical services (EMS)
and/or arranging for evacuation to the nearest available medical
facility.
Course
Objectives
- Recognize signs and
symptoms of a dive emergency requiring oxygen first aid.
- State the benefits of
providing oxygen to an injured diver.
- State potential hazard of
working with oxygen.
- Assemble and deploy the DAN
Oxygen Unit with skill and confidence.
- State the circumstances
under which each mask option (demand, non-rebreather, and
pocket) is used for breathing and non-breathing injured
divers.
DAN Oxygen Instructor
The Instructor
Qualification Course (IQC) represents training designed to
qualify active diving educators in the conduct of the DAN Oxygen
First Aid in Diving Accidents course.
Prerequisites for
Entering the IQC
- The recommended minimum age
is 18
- Active scuba instructor
from recognized agency
- Current DAN Oxygen Provider
(All IQC candidates must participate in or audit the DAN
Oxygen First Aid in Diving Accidents Course as part of
their IQC)
- Current CPR certification
from a nationally or international recognized agency
